olive trees in groves tumbling down from the mountains to the beach – there is
entertainment and great fun to be had, and yet even in high season, it's
possible to walk along the nine mile / fifteen kilometre beach and see only a
small number of other people. |

The principal town is small but lively Kissamos/ Kastelli with
its bustling fishing port, its shops, bars and cafes. And nestling between the
trees and fields are numerous tiny Cretan villages with their own traditional
local tavernas and cafes.
A little further along this beautiful coast lies the legendary
Venetian port city of Chania - an easy drive or bus ride away. |

Our camping accommodation is in French-designed luxury
three/four bedroom
frame tents, each pitched on its own plot with plenty of space around for
privacy.
These airy and spacious modern tents measure 8m by 7.5m at their
widest providing accommodation of a spectacular 38 square metres (approximately
410 square feet) - the size of a small house! This is the ultimate in outdoor
living - superbly designed tents, with an incredibly strong outer-framed
structure and featuring huge windows with blinds and screens for both privacy
and ventilation - without insects! Separate sleeping rooms, full
size beds and mattresses, refrigerator, night-time toilet, etc. etc.
In each garden there's a charcoal barbeque for warm summer
evenings under the stars. Char grilled meat or fish with perhaps a salad and a
glass of chilled wine never tasted so good! |

Mythimna Holiday Parc
is essentially a lively taverna and
music bar, open all hours with a
friendly, fun atmosphere. The food is
excellent, featuring many local dishes
in addition to well-known favourites. |
|
|
|
There is also a camping
facility in the shade of the trees away
from the beach. The toilets and showers
are spacious and spotlessly clean. There
is no pool, but the parc is directly
opposite the sandy beach across a quiet
lane. This is a location for those who
want to party! Crete Alfresco's tents are in a separate area to the
left of the main parc with their own
private entrance to the beach. |

The Holiday Parc
at Nopigia is quieter and has
more of a family atmosphere in high
season and attracts walkers and cyclists
in the quieter months. The sea here is
also very close across a quiet lane but
the beach is rocky and stony – fabulous
for snorkelling and the sound of the
surf as you drift off to sleep, but
difficult to build sand castles!
However, the absence of
a sandy beach here is more than
compensated for by the fabulous 30 metre
pool complete with a young children’s play-area. |

There is a bar, a
taverna and a mini-market adjacent to
the pool. The taverna food at Nopigia is
delicious and always freshly-cooked with
a range of traditional dishes and local
wines. Crete Alfresco's luxury tents at
Nopigia have a separate area and
entrance from the main camping area and
like the rest of the site enjoy cool shade,
calm and privacy - courtesy of the
numerous trees. |

family and everything is kept spotlessly
clean even at the most busy times. |

You are free to make
your own way to Chania airport or the
ferryport at nearby Souda. We can, if
you wish,
advise you on the best means of travel
wherever you’re coming from. We send you
full directions on how to get to the
parc you have chosen. If you hire a car
(see button at top of page) then
Autokappa will come and collect you and
you return the car to the port at the
end of your stay. Taxis
are cheap in Greece so many people will take a taxi from
the airport and give the travelling tasks to someone
else and live for while without a car in this beautiful
